李宁十几岁时，经常到山里打柴、刮松毛。一次，李宁连续几天发现松树林里发出一道白光、红光，慢慢又变成七色光环的红球，在地上跳动。上师好奇地追赶光球，脚下一空，滑进了岭槽的深沟里。在惊恐之中，突然有一只大手拍在他肩膀上，李宁回头看时，只见一位身穿土布蓝衫的老人站在面前，慈祥的面容，大大的眼睛，银须飘冉，老人合掌道：“阿弥陀佛，有缘有缘，小师弟，我与你前世有缘，今世特来点化于你，前世的事你早已忘记了……” 嘱咐李宁今后会有高人来引渡他，说完便渺无踪影……
 

Encounter with a Sage in the Mountains
 

During his teenage years, Li Ning had to go into the mountains to get firewood and collect Pine leafs often. Once, for few days in a row Li Ning noticed a white light and a red light would flash alternatively in the forest to eventually transform into a ball of re light with rainbow rings around it. The ball would bounce all over the forest. After observing for a few days, he decides to chase after the ball of light. Just as he was about to reach the ball, he slipped and falled into a deep ravines. In the heat of panic, he felt a pad on his shoulder and turned around. There behind him stood a old man in blue cotton cloth, an amiable face with a set of big eyes, his beard of silver waving underneath. The old man put his palms together and said: “Amitabha, Youyuan Youyuan, my little dharma brother. We know each other from your past life; I am here today to enlighten you in this life because you had already forgotten about your past life……” Before the old man disappeared, he told Li Ning that a great sage will come to ferry him over in the future.
