Description
The Nine Dragons Tathāgata is an extraordinary sacred painting by Vajra Master Jinke Xuanlei.
At the heart of the painting, Tathāgata Mahāvairocana  sits serenely, his hands forming the Turning the  Wheel of Dharma Mudra. The Tathāgata gazes down with infinite compassion, alleviating the suffering of sentient beings. Surrounding him, the ancient plum branches—representing the coiling bodies of dragons—come to life with vibrant blossoms. The Master, while chanting esoteric mantras, used his fingers to paint the plum flowers, which exude a radiant beauty that fills the air with vitality and fragrance.

Encircling the Tathāgata are nine dragons, each constantly spits streams of nectar-like Dharma rain that converge into a fragrant ocean, nourishing and purifying all beings. Behind the Tathāgata, the mighty Dragon King of Mount Sumeru emerges with a resounding roar, accompanied by Vajra and Lotus Guardian Boys who hold sacred instruments, symbolizing the subjugation of inner delusions and demons. The Tathāgata radiates a brilliant light of auspiciousness, instantly dispelling ignorance and illuminating the inner wisdom of sentient beings.

A luminous full moon graces the upper background, emanating gentle, serene light. Within the moon’s disk, five celestial children appear, representing the five elements—gold, wood, water, fire, and earth. These figures embody the cycles of creation and dissolution, signifying the dependent origination of all phenomena. As emanations of the Tathāgata’s enlightened mind, they illustrate the interplay of emptiness and form, guiding sentient beings through the transformative cycle of samsara toward awakening.
