“Bayinduda, with the secret body, all manifestations arise as Dharmakāya.
A wise ruler with profound virtue, steadfast in keeping samaya,
Practicing wisdom with sincerity, bestowing blessings upon all beings.”

The lineage of Sino Esoteric Buddhism (Tangmi) has been passed down through the embodiment of the Dharmakāya, a method of sacred and esoteric transmission that remains largely concealed from the general public. For centuries, Chinese imperial families revered Sino Esoteric Buddhism, secretly practicing and protecting its profound teachings. Bound by samaya vows, they meticulously guarded the rituals and mantras, ensuring they remained hidden from the uninitiated, further shrouding Tangmi’s true nature in mystery.
In this painting, Master Bayinduda is depicted in a sublime celestial setting, embodying the profound wisdom and compassion of Sino Esoteric Buddhism. Meditating serenely upon clouds amidst towering mountains, his presence exudes both spiritual authority and gentle compassion.
To his side stands a radiant Ḍākinī, a celestial deity embodying esoteric energy and guidance. Her vivid red and white forms symbolize both wrathful protection and boundless purity. Surrounding them are divine guardians and celestial attendants, whose gestures and forms evoke the sacred interplay of protection and Dharma transmission. Below, a majestic dragon emerges, its flowing form bridging the heavens and the earthly palace beneath, symbolizing the connection between spiritual enlightenment and the material world.
The palace at the lower right, framed by ancient trees, represents the sanctity of the earthly domain where Bayinduda’s teachings take root. The dragon, a guardian of wisdom in Chinese tradition, holds a spiritual thread that connects the sacred and the mundane, embodying the master’s role in guiding sentient beings toward liberation.
The painting masterfully blends symbolism and natural imagery, capturing the essence of Bayinduda’s meditative practice and his compassionate vow to guide all sentient beings. The composition reflects the hidden yet unbroken lineage of Sino Esoteric Buddhism, a sacred tradition passed down through centuries of unwavering dedication. This artwork invites the viewer to reflect on the profound mysteries of Dharma and the boundless compassion that sustains its transmission.
